    EXPERTISE

    Meeting with CS

    The Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection, Hon Florence Bore, had a Meeting with State Department for Social Protection and the World Bank. The meeting was to discuss the progress of work on Social Risk and Impacts sub-component under the Financially Locally Led Climate Action Programme (FLLoCA). Waziri Bore thanked the team for the progress towards the development of the Social Risk and Impacts Policy which is in the approval processes. The policy seeks to maximize on development outcomes and ensure sustainable people centred development. Briefing the CS on the social risks and impacts management policy on 2nd October 2023 as the Social Safeguards advisor to the ministry of labour and social protection is Dr. Adino.

    Experience

    UN Systems

    Dr. Adino has worked with UN systems and has conducted social and gender assessment for UNICEF and WFP. He has developed Food and Nutrition Security Strategic framework for FAO. He was also engaged by the Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) South Sudan country Office to undertake baseline evaluation for Climate Resilient WASH for their health and Nutrition intervention projects in six states of Southern Sudan.

    Government

    Dr. Adino was recently appointed by the Government of Kenya as a Social Risk Management Advisor to the Financing Locally Led Climate Action (FLLOCA) project, which is being financed by more than 10 International development partners and spearheaded by the World Bank. The project seeks to harness local knowledge to build climate resilient and adaptation.

    Consultancy

    Dr. Adino has over 15 years experience in project planning and management across 13 East, West and Southern Africa Countries. He is an international Consultant working on various development projects being financed by Multilateral donors ranging from World Bank, KfW, AfDB and European Union among others. His involvement is in cross-cutting projects ranging from Financial Inclusion, Education, Climate Resilience, Health, Nutrition, WASH, Food Security and Livelihood Restoration among others.

    Public Institutions

    Dr. Adino has more than 10 years teaching and research experience. He is currently teaching at the Department of Social Sciences and Development studies at Pwani University. He sits in the Kenyan Board of Action Aid International and advises the organization on climate change, public health and international development affairs.
    Furthermore, he is also the current International Social Safeguards Expert for Eastern Africa Regional Transport, Trade and Development Facilitation Project (EARTTDFP) being implemented by Kenya National Highways Authority and is financed by KfW.

    Interests

    Dr. Adino contributes in the sustainable development through his passion in education and community service. These two form his core hobbies.
    Community Service
    Including empowering women, planting trees, sensitizing the community about climate change and sustainable development projects, creating resilience, etc.
    Education
    Being an educationist with firm belief in education as the greatest equalizer, he endeavours to sponsor orphaned children in Gem constituency through secondary schooling and beyond.
